healthy forest, Good Business.

A zoned, triad approach to forest property management where conservation is supported by restoration and sustainable wood production.

We connect clients with opportunities to invest in forest restoration and generate value in high quality wood, carbon storage, clean air and water, and other beneficial outcomes such as biodiversity. While some believe that conservation and healthy ecosystems must be traded for economic growth, we believe and demonstrate the opposite. With knowledge and technical change, we make improvements in human wellbeing, ecological resilience, sustainability, productivity and conservation.

FSP Americas was established in 2002 in Alberta, Canada and San Martin, Peru to commercialize the idea of forest restoration alongside profitable, ecologically sustainable production systems that are good for people and communities. Around rural communities in the Peruvian Amazon and other areas in Latin America, we witness a pattern of degraded land and forest converted to less sustainable land uses. Even amidst the availability of improved practices such as agroforestry and permaculture, a pattern of increasingly degraded forest near towns and cities is pervasive. Forest is cleared for unsustainable agriculture, food remains reasonably available and relatively inexpensive, but jobs and steady income are scarce. Although these areas have high photosynthetic potential, examples of sustainable, forest-based production systems and access to higher value international markets remains elusive.
